The loss of oil pressure due to worn seals affects Vanos operation, reducing torque especially in the low and mid-RPM range.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReplacing the M50-S52 Vanos seals is done with the Vanos unit removed from the engine. It's a standalone repair - not really shared with any other work except a valve cover gasket or top-end valvetrain overhaul. We strongly suggest purchasing a top-end gasket kit that will include all of the other gaskets and seals needed when opening up the cylinder head of the engine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith the Vanos disassembled, this is also the only time to replace the rings that cause “marble in a can” Vanos rattles.
