What are the differences, Steve from Autometer?
I have a 1981 and a 1983 Malibu, and i don't see any reason why I couldn't swap the cluster out of one into the other, physically. I don't know if the wiring is any different, but that doesn't really matter since you're going to add aftermarket gauges anyway. If someone could clarify, that would be great. Perhaps making one that will fit 78-81 would be a good idea. In Malibu, anyway, there were only 4-doors and wagons after 1981. You'd sell a ton more if you accomodated 78-81 for the 2 door guys. Thanks!

Thank you for your question. This gauge does not include provisions for the headlight switch, you may need to make modifications to accommodate it.

what are the gauge sizes? and what gauge line works with ls swap with a speedodometer signal from aftermarket harness?

Thank you for the question. Our MALIBU/EL CAMINO/MONTE CARLO direct fit panel accepts 2-5/8" gauges and 5" (4-5/8") tach and speedometer. Throughout our product line you'll find many styles that will offer these sizes, including Ultra-Lite, Sport Comp, Phantom, and Cobalt. Each series will also offer an electronic programmable speedometer that will work off the factory LS speedometer signal.
