Perfect fit
I could have used the three step down fittings to install my new mechanical temperature sensor, but something about doing that just seemed wrong. This fitting was the exact fit to minimize potential failures and keep my temp line away from my headers. (75 Chevy blazer SM350). Couldn’t be happier with this brass fitting.

I have a Shelby CSX 4000 car with the "Shelby" labeled gauges. I believe they are made by Autometer.Is this correct, and will this adapter be correct for the mechanical oil temperature probe that mounts in the oil pan?

Thank you for your question. Not all of the Cobra gauges were made by us. If there is some identifying mark like AutoMeter and/or Sycamore, IL in small print around the perimeter of the dial, that would confirm they are AutoMeter. By default, the 2264 is the adapter that typically comes with our mechanical oil temp gauges. It will thread into an existing ½” NPT port, but can’t necessarily be welded itself since it’s brass. Alternatively, we also offer an aluminum adapter model 2273 as well as a steel weld-in adapter, model 2261.
