Poor Quality cheap plastic junk
I bought this tachometer from Summit Racing, First impressions very cheaply made. So I decided to hook the tach up an just as I thought it didn’t work correctly. The needle jumps up and down. Turn lights on and it jumps also. Manufacturers of products like this don’t care about the people that buy these products they just want your money. When person has to work every day they don’t need to be fighting this type junk on your days off.)

Hello, Is this Tachometer compatible with a MSD 6AL-2, PN6421 ignition system? Thanks Darryl

Thank you for your question. This tach is compatible with a MSD 6AL box. You need to make sure you are getting your tach signal from the tach terminal on the ignition box though. If you connect directly to the coil with this ignition system you could damage the tach.
Please see instructions Figure B for more information. https://www.autometer.com/pub/media/manual/2650-468X.pdf

I wired my new Autometer 2304 tach but it doesn't work. wired to hot wire, light, neg. post on coil, and grounded on the dash. It's on 1962 Ford with 406" motor. Help!

Check your coil closely. It is not uncommon with vehicles as old as yours for the coil to have been wired into the vehicle backwards at some point. The engine will still start and run. Coil negative should be connected to the distributor, coil positive to the ballast resistor on a vehicle of this age. This will result in no damage to the tach, but it will not read.

I am interested to see if this tach can be mounted under the dash (like a knee knocker). Does the mounting hardware allow the tach to be rotated 108 degrees? I need to mount below dash instead of on top.

Thank you for your question.Yes, you can rotate 180 degrees. There is al limitation that prevents 360 degrees. This is detailed in the instructions; https://www.autometer.com/pub/media/manual/2650-468X.pdf

Can a shift light be attached to this
1
answer
Answer this Question
Jim from AutoMeter · 6 years ago
Thank you for your inquiry. The 2304 is not designed to control a shift light. You may want to consider the 2302 or 2309, both of which include shift lights.

Thank you for your question. Your MSD box should have a tach output which you would wire your green wire from the tach to.

Yes, there’s a screw that runs though the back housing, loosen it and rotate the gage face whichever direction you want.
