If your sender has one terminal, it grounds through the threads. So supply 12 volt to your light, other light wire to the terminal on the sender.

Does this switch trigger the light at 30psi and higher, or 30 psi and lower? I am looking for a low oil pressure warning system.

hCORRECTION : the wiring for this two wire sensor doesn't use a ground wire. One terminal needs a hot wire, the other terminal sends power to the warning light. And your product image incorrectly shows a one terminal sensor. Come on autometer you ca

Hi Tim,
As referenced in the previous answer, we've had 2 wire senders in the past, but most are a single wire today. At least with AutoMeter, you definitely do not want to supply 12V to the sender in any circumstance. The sender always switches on ground or interrupts the ground side.
Thank you,
Matt

Hi Tim,
Thank you for the question. Many years ago and over the years, we offered 2 post pressure switches, but in recent years they changed to primarily a single terminal. If you required a 2 post, I'd recommend sourcing from another company unless you can find the older AutoMeter versions in the marketplace or secondary market.
Thank you,
Matt

Lil Eck,
Thank you for the question. The warning light sensor will come with either a two or one spaded unit. If the sensor does come with only one spade then the sending unit is grounded through the threads. But if you have a two spade sensor like you described then one terminal is for ground and the other is for the signal wire.

What is the max system pressure this switch can handle? The system can go as high as 3,000 PSI.

Thank you for your inquiry. The 3242 is designed for a maximum of 120 psi. It is not designed to handle 3,000 psi, and will rupture if exposed to this type of pressure.

Bob here. We bought a 3242 switch, the bag says 3242, but the switch has 2 screw terminals on it and the number on the base is F42830. Did we get the correct part?

Thank you for your question. Yes, that is the correct part. If it has two terminals, one is for ground. If it only has one terminal then it grounds through the threads of the unit.

Thank you for your inquiry. The 3242 has a standard spade connector. We normally advise running a new wire between this switch and our warning light. We don't have any information regarding the OEM harness on your Firebird.
