Product 3856 DESCRIPTION:
One of the single most important factors in determining how your engine performs (and how long it performs between rebuilds) is proper oil temperature during operation. Knowing your exact temp allows you to make sure you’ve got the proper oil weight and cooling capacity. Using AutoMeter’s advanced 1/8” NPT two wire temperature transducer, you can be assured of the most accurate possible readings of the life blood of your engine. The advanced Digital Stepper Motor Drive keeps needle movement smooth and precise. A direct plug in wiring harness is included for ease of installation.

I would like to install this oil temperature gauge (3856) in a rear engine car (1967 Karmann Ghia), can I buy a longer wiring harness for it?

You can Lengthen the existing wires using the same size wire.

I need a sending unit for an electric oil temp GS gauge (140 - 280) that I purchased on 4/27/2010 and I'm not sure which one to buy, please advise

For this gauge, you would look at getting the 2252.
