came with no oil pressure sending unit
I have used Autometer gauges for a long time, and up till recently have been happy with them. However I ordered a 6927 Cobalt Digital oil pressure gauge and it came with wiring and a sending unit for water temperature and NOT oil pressure. What's the deal here. This is the second attempt to get a sending unit with this gauge from Sumit. They shipped me out a new gauge and it's missing the oil pressure sender just like the first one I got did. If this gauge does not come with the oil pressure sender then that information needs to be included with the information on the gauge with the correct part number so the buyer knows what's going on with this. What a hassel this has been and it could have all been avoided.

Hi guys. Is there any way to lower the brightness of this gauge? I didn’t install it in my car and have no instructions but it is extremely bright and distracting of a night. Thanks, Matt

The only way to control the brightness would be to use the white wire. If connecting to an OEM dimmer switch you may need to use P/N: 9114 to properly control the brightness.

This will work but you may need adapters in order to properly install the sensor as it is an 1/8" NPT thread.

Hi, can you tell me if the ( oil pressure gauge ) reading if affected by lower or higher than 12 volts? and when the engine oil is hot or cold? Using a mechanical gauge my pressure changes from 40 psi when cold to about 28 psi when hot. at idle. Thanks,

Hi Bob, thank you for the question. It's not unusual to have a higher oil pressure upon a cold start-up and then see a small decrease as the oil thins and warms up. Our digital and electric gauges are designed for 12V and are also compatible with 16V racing batteries. We would not recommend lower than 12V, but you can certainly go as high as 18V and there should be very little, if any discernible change in reading as long as you're in that voltage window.

Can the gauge readout be programmed to flash when oil pressure drops below a set PSI?

Thank you for reaching out to us. The 6927 or any other standard digital AutoMeter gauge does not feature any type of warning function. However, we are nearing release on a new Elite Digital Series that will have a warning feature built in. These should be available within the next month. Currently, for a warning feature, we'd recommend our 4352, 3652, or 5652.

Hi, Do you have the mechanical drawings with dimensions of the gauge? I would like to see if I can custom fit onto my car. Thanks.

Matt from AutoMeter · 6 years ago
Hi Leon, thank you for the question. We do not have complete assembled gauge drawings available, but can provide general details like hole size required (2-1/16") and bezel diameter (2-3/16"). Ideally you'll need about 4" behind the gauge for a proper and easy installation. In an extreme situation, with mounting studs trimmed down and custom mounting, you could get away with about 2-1/4".
If you require other dimensions or more specific dimensions, send us an email request here:

I had a shop install my 2 1/16 Cobalt digital oil pressure gauge. There is a 0E on the screen what does this mean?

Answer this Question
Matt from AutoMeter · 6 years ago
Hi Patch, thank you for contacting us. E0 would indicate a sender error. This could be caused by a sender issue, but more commonly it's caused by an insufficient sender ground. That sender must create a ground connection through the threads and an excessive amount of thread sealant can prevent that ground, causing the E0 error. If you have access to an ohmmeter or multimeter to measure resistance, you can also check the sender's resistance. Make sure to disconnect the gauge from the sender before testing, but the sender should read approximately 250 ohms without the engine running.
