8546 gauge question. Gauge doesn't start back to Zero once truck cools off. Starts at last read temp then starts from there. Gauge will wrap all the way once temps rise. possible steeper motor issues?

The meter in this gauge allows the pointer to rest anywhere with power off. Upon turning power back on, the pointer should go to ambient temperature at the sensor. If your gauge is not doing this, contact Tech Support at 866-248-6357 to troubleshoot.

Most pyro probes use an NPT adapter with a separate threaded nut on the back side of the probe to connect the probe to the NPT adapter. How does this probe seal exhaust gasses with just a set screw? Is there a different probe I can use with this gauge?

Thank you for your question. The band clamp keeps the probe in place which seals the adapter being used. If you would like you can use P/N: 5254 instead.

Can I do a special order of this gauge series with a blue pointer? I am looking at getting the trans temp gauge, boost 0 - 35psi gauge and the pyrometer.

I am Looking at the Auto Meter #8547 pyrometer for my 2018 Ram with Cummins 6.7 engine. Do you know if there is a port or factory threaded hole to mount the thermal probe for this pyrometer or will I have to drill and tap a hole in the exhaust manifold

Thank you for the question. You will most likely have to drill and tap into the exhaust manifold. We have no hands on yet with a 2018, but you should be able to find several resources online for some direction. We have a 2008 guide, but general diesel pyrometer installation has not changed much since then: https://www.autometer.com/resources/index/guide_view/id/7

Hi there, Curious the 2 different images shown, the chrome bezel and then the black appearing one with the background lit up in the guage.. are there 2 different option such as chrome bezels and black? Or is it the actual same piece at night? -Mike

Hi Mike, thank you so much for contacting us. You were right on the second account; the darker bezel is the result of the gauge being photographed in the dark with the lights on. With that said, we are happy to do special orders and do have a black bezel available should you prefer that way.
