If the rear end of your BMW feels "bouncy" or isn't as planted to the road as it once was it is likely due to worn out shock absorbers. The shock absorbers are designed to dampen the rebound of the coil springs and to provide a comfortable and controlled ride. Failed shock absorbers have many signs of failure including leaks and squeaking.
WARNING: Proposition 65 informationIf your ride feels a little bouncy or you can feel clunks in the suspension while it's going over bumps it is likely due to worn strut assemblies and shock absorbers. The purpose of the strut assembly is it acts as a central pivot point for the suspension while housing the coil spring. It also dampens the compression and rebound of the coil spring as the suspension moves up and down. When replacing suspension components it is highly recommended to replace them in pairs.
