Factory shock absorbers were not designed for lifted applications, so BILSTEIN created the Lifting the B8 5160 remote reservoir shock absorber for the 2005–2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty to maintain control and ride quality on and off-road. This direct-fit solution allows for additional wheel travel resulting from lifting the F-250. A remote reservoir feeds the monotube shock, connected by a unique 360-degree swivel banjo fitting. Traveling over bumpy, rough terrain means the shock is constantly in action, which generates heat and causes cavitation. The additional fluid capacity allows that fluid to cool, ensuring consistent damping from the velocity-sensitive digressive valves.
