Product Information
The S65 V8 found in the E9X M3's was derived from the S85 V10. Because of this many of the things that made the S85 V10 great also mean many parts are shared. This includes the construction of the engine. In this case the S65 V8 uses the same connecting rods as the S85 V10 which means they are a known wear item. Early product S65 engines came with the same identical bearing that was installed during the entirety of the S85 construction.
In mid-2010, BMW introduced a new rod bearing made out of Bi-metal aluminum. This was not only to ensure better durability of the rod bearings but also to meet new EU standards in regards to the use of copper and hard metals in engine components. The newer bearing which is featured in this kit tends to not have the same extreme wear issues since the clearance was improved and the bearing is much more durable compared to the original lead bearings.
This kit includes 702 and 703 connecting rod bearing shells along with Genuine BMW connecting rod bolts. In addition to that this kit includes all other replacement hardware that is required for an S65 rod bearing service in which the engine is left in the engine bay.
