The eccentric shaft in your N55 engine controls the variable valve lift of the intake valves. This system is known as Valvetronic There are numerous reasons why this shaft may require replacement including needle bearing failure or wear at the location of the worm drive for the actuator due to poor lubrication. This kit includes the eccentric shaft, needle bearings, as well as other gaskets/seals needed to replace a worn or failed eccentric shaft.
