The R-1246 rear deck harness mount system is a new concept in harness mounting. The R-1246 extends the factory back seat shoulder harness mount points through the rear deck, which lets you clip shoulder harnesses for a 4/5/6 point harness in and out in seconds. The R-1246 can be used with the factory rear seat belts still installed, meaning this is a solution that doesn’t compromise the practicality of your backseat whatsoever.


The E46 harness mount has been tested and certified by an independent lab to handle the types of forces required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. DOT and SAE J385 Rev. MAR 95, Motor Vehicle Seat Belt Anchorages-Performance Requirements.

The E46 harness mount bar properly locates and supports racing shoulder harnesses relative to the driver. In the case of an accident, it helps protect the driver's shoulders and spine. The harness guides also prevent excessive shifting and fatigue of the driver during the high G loads of cornering and braking.

The R-1246 BMW E46 Rear Deck Shoulder Harness Mount is easy to install and remove, uses only existing holes and mounting points, and will not damage the car in any way.

 


Note: The R-1246 requires longer shoulder harness belt runs than our other harness mounting solutions. Only use the R-1246 in combination with harnesses where the harness manufacturer approves of running the belts 30-40" (depending on seat position) from shoulders to the harness mount points. Not recommended for drivers with seats in extremely forward positions (close to steering wheel), as harnesses may not be long enough to reach.


Note: The R-1246 is not compatible with our seat back support. Do not use in applications where a seat back support is required. If a seat back support is desired, the R-1202 (e46 harness bar) allows for the use of a seat back support (R-9020).


(Most Racing Sanctions and Drivers Schools recommend/or require using a seat back brace with FIA certified seats that are 11 year past their manufacture date. Seats made before 2009 it is 6 years past manufacture date)
