Product Information
Synthetic brake fluid based on glycol ethers, alkyl polyglycols and polyglycol esters. It contains inhibitors to prevent the corrosion of metallic brake components and to reduce oxidation at increased temperatures. The brake fluid enjoys excellent wet and dry boiling points, thus guaranteeing safe braking even after the absorption of some moisture over an extended period of use. Special moisture scavengers help to minimize the formation of steam bubbles.
Exceptionally well-suited for use with all disc and drum brake systems, as well as vehicle clutch systems for which a synthetic brake fluid of DOT 5.1 specification is required. The brake fluid is also suitable for use in ABS brake systems.

Application:
Liqui Moly DOT 5.1 brake fluid can be used with all conventional brake fluid bleeding devices. Liqui Moly DOT 4 brake fluid is miscible and compatible with all high-quality synthetic brake fluids. The optimal period of use for this brake fluid is, however, only ensured when it is used alone. It is recommended that the brake fluid be changed in accordance with the specifications from the vehicle manufacturer.
Brake fluid is essentially hydraulic fluid which meets the standards set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Department of Transportation (DOT). There are three main categories of brake fluid: DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5. DOT 3 and 4 are polyglycol based while DOT 5 is synthetic brake fluid. Glycol based fluids are hygroscopic which is a benefit as the fluid absorbs any water which prevents water droplets from forming in the fluid. By absorbing the water, this in turn prevents water from collecting which could either boil, freeze or corrode components. Changing the brake fluid in your vehicle routinely will reduce the chances of boiling brake fluid which could lead to brake fade or loss of brake operation altogether.
