The window regulator is responsible for moving the piece of glass inside your door up or down. Window regulators can be manual (hand crank style) or powered (rolled up or down with the flip of a switch). Window regulators can fail after thousands of cycles. The most common failure of any window regulator is the pulley where the cable spins around. Most regulators use a very simple pulley system and due to the material they are constructed from they can fail easily with age.

When window regulators are worn and on the verge of failure there are typically warning signs. You will typically hear a clicking from inside the door panel when the window regulator is being operated. Alternatively, the motor which powers the pulley system may become weak over time resulting in a slow moving window in comparison to others. If you are experiencing these types of symptoms it's highly recommended to inspect and replace the worn parts.

• It takes multiple attempts to roll window up or down
• Window speed is slower than usual
• Clicking/grinding coming from inside the door as window is moving up or down
• Window out of alignment
• Window will not roll up or down (stuck in position)
