The 3.375" powder coated steel base gives your magnet plenty of real estate to pull on, and it pivots so you can easily lay the antenna down when you're running a long whip in low clearance. Plus, the soft rubber pad of the vacuum mount is much more gentle on your vehicle's finish than a magnet.
