Here is the special tool used to install the piston on a Volkswagen VR6 engine. Please consult your Bentley Publishers Service Manual for the procedure to use this tool. This is the factory tool number 3278, made in Germany. Here is the correct tool for the job. This is the actual factory tool. If you have never used this tool before, and you break the rings trying to install the piston, there is nothing wrong with the tool, you need more practice! Do not buy this tool unless you have the skill to use it. This job is recommended for an experienced mechanic.  Not for 3.6L engine.
