A cost effective set of adjustment plates for your S54 powered BMW
The S54 engine is unique for a modern BMW engine. It is unique because it uses solid lifters instead of hydraulic lifters. This lifter style's one primary advantage over hydraulic lifters is that it allows for more durable and reliable high engine speed operation. However, the one downside to this setup is it requires valve adjustments every 30,000 miles. Incorrect valve lash can cause performance problems, a noisy valve train, and in extreme circumstances can even cause engine damage.
This shim kit comes with an array of sizes (1.72mm-2.60mm) you will need to correctly and professionally adjust the valve lash on your S54 engine. In order to facilitate this repair we also recommend ordering BMW's magnetic valve shim installation tool, part number 114400, and a new valve cover gasket set.
This Wiseco valve shim adjuster kit is a more cost effective solution compared to Geniuine shims. They are heat treated and precision ground to exact tolerances. Originally intended for high RPM mtorcycle and ATV engines, these valve shims are the same diamteter as the Genuine BMW shims and share the same thickness increments.
