It does not look like we have a 5" version of this gauge in the KM/h. I would be on the lookout for our custom shop later this year.

I have a 1972 VW Karmann Ghia, does one of your mechanical/electric converters work for this car? Or will I need to pony up for the GPS unit?

Thank you for contacting us. We have the 2 standard GM and Ford. The GM sender (5291) is a 7/8-18 thread and was more commonly used on other older vehicles. However, we’re not sure what your Karmann Ghia is. The other option would be our 5290 universal speed sensor. This is what we offer for those applications that aren’t compatible with the 5291 or 5292.

Hello, I really like your instruments but have an English vehicle with 4" (100 mm) Speedo and Tacho openings. This is a very common size in English cars. Do you have any plans to build 4" Speedos and Tachos?

I have a Bugatti Kit car built on a 1969 VW Bug. My question is I have ordered a cable that converts the analog to electronic signal for speedo using Inductive Sensor. Will this speedo work with that setup? Also can I set the original mileage?

Thank you for connecting with us. Our electronic speedometers will read a sine-wave type signal or a hall-effect signal. Unfortunately, without know exactly what type of signal your device produces, we can't make any guarantees. But if it's designed to run an electronic speedometer, it should work with ours.
There are no adjustments that you will be able to do with mileage, but you can special order with any mileage for a small additional service charge. If you'd like to inquire further about the special order, give us a call at 866-248-6356 or email us here: https://www.autometer.com/contacts

Hi John, thank you for the question. Yes, the GPS Interface and any AutoMeter electronic programmable speedometer will be compatible with your truck. 12 volts would be the only requirement. However, our 5" Speedometer fits into a 4-5/8" diameter hole. If you're looking to fit this into the existing hole in your '52 dash, you'll need something like our direct fit insert: https://www.autometer.com/direct-fit-dash-insert-chevy-truck-47-53-2-gauge-billet.html

I have installed a Rostra universal cruise control. I am using the magnetic VSS generator (driveshaft) signal generator). Can this signal be shared with the speedometer?
1
answer
Answer this Question
Matt from AutoMeter · 7 years ago
Hi Dave, thank you for the question. Yes, our speedometer will trigger and operate off your VSS. There is a slight possibility that either our speedometer or your cruise could be affected by that shared "weaker" signal, but no damage would ever come to our speedometer. It would simply drop off speed or not operate.
