Will this mount to steering column?

This tachometer comes with a mounting base that has a curvature on its underside. It can be mounted on a steering column with the use of a hose clamp.

How deep is it from the mounting point to the back? Where I am wanting to mount it, I have just under 3" of space.

Hi Don,
I can't give you a light level rating. That said, the shift light is a focused light beam. If the tach is properly mounted to aim toward your face, you won't miss the shift light coming on, day or night.

Lets see now a #2303 = $63.us + a #5312 = $141.us + a #5330 = $65.us for a Total of $ 269.us . Could i not get a #2309 = $165.us + a #2303 = $63.us for a Total of $ 228.us . And take the White Face & Black Pointer off of the #2303 and put it on the #230

Thank you for your question. This would be a bad idea for many different reasons. Here are just a couple reasons why you should absolutely not do that.
1) Any modifications will void the 1-year warranty.
2) The bezels are machine crimped on so once you remove them, you will not be able to get them back on.
3) In order to remove the dial face, you need to remove the pointer. Once you remove the pointer, it will be impossible for you to stake it back on appropriately for the tach to display accurately, because you do not have the tools and specifications to do this properly.

Can the shift lite be located elsewhere? Example: tach located at sun visor area and tack lite located above dash in front of driver. That’s what I have now with a monster tach and it’s too big.

Can this tach installed on coil pack ignition cars? my car's coil pack is using ground directly from engine head, 12V from B+, signal from ECM. car model: chevy spark 1.0L 4 cyl (Sort of GM FAM 1 engine)

Thank you for your question. You will need our tach adapter #9117 in order to use this gauge with a coil pack ignition.

Two questions. One, is this Tach compatible with your diesel tach adapter? Two, what color is the backlight of the gauge, not the shift light? And is there any way to change the color?

Thank you for your question. Yes, it will work with the diesel tach adapter. It uses a traditional incandescent bulb which you can put a boot cover over to change the color or you can replace it with a T3 wedge base LED bulb.
