Great for those monitoring fuel consumption, but…
Lots of information to be gleaned from this handy little gauge, and no regrets for paying a rather steep price, but the Ecometer needs some help on the display. A bright overcast sky or direct sunlight reflected of the front of the display will make the gauge unreadable. Put some thought into where you intend to locate this unit in your automobile!

Installed on a 2016 Mercedes Metris, works, but stays illuminated after exiting and locking up.. Does not seem acceptable, as it remains warm to the touch, indicating significant battery depletion is likely to leave me stranded with a dead battery :-(

Assume product is LED powered so not likely to drain your battery.
25 Ma so if your battery in old, disconnect after one week from OBD plug.

The Eco Meter will not fit into a pillar mount. It must use the included mount.

Do you have a wiring diagram that I can use to capture the RPM on a separate gauge that measures RPM of the vehicle? Or can you state which wire I can use from the ODB harness.

Thank you for your question. This will be as accurate as possible. It pulls the information off of the vehicle's OBD-II port. If your ecometer displays a different average MPG value than your calculated value, you can fine tune the ecometer to match the condition of your vehicle engine by following the steps on page four of the instructions: https://www.autometer.com/pub/media/manual/2650-1592.pdf
