Charging Modes

• The BEX series battery chargers are fully equipped with sophisticated circuitry that will safely charge and maintain batteries without overcharging. Charging lights will tell you what stage of charge your battery is currently taking.
Indicator Lights
AMBER (Desulfation) - The battery extender is in desulfation mode
RED (Charging) - The battery extender is charging the battery
GREEN (Maintain) - The battery extender is safely maintaining your battery at full charge. Your battery is ready to go when you need it.
Ruggedized and Water Resistant

Good product
I have used this maintainer on my boat battery for two years. I use the boat once or twice a week and always have a battery that is fully charged. I also operate electronics onboard and even tho I still fish I always have battery power.

Died after almost five years of use, dissapointed
I used this almost 24/7, rotating it on all our batteries and after almost five years the charging LED began flashing indicating its death.

Optima PC680 battery requires a 2 amp charge and a voltage in excess of 14.5v and a maintenance voltage of 13.5v. Is this possible with this Extender? My numbers are approximate.

I would recommend the BEX-5000 if your numbers are consistent with your products. On Page 3 of https://www.autometer.com/pub/media/manual/2650-1753.pdf, it will provide a table showing the differences in the BEX models.

Had BEX-1500 installed PERMANENTLY by the Toyota dealer in Canada on a 2020 Corolla, just after the third month, and after a new battery installed. The car is somehow draining it. It needs to be plugging in as soon outside temp goes -10°C. What's wrong?

Hello! The Green Light means the battery is in Maintain mode and the Battery Extender is safely maintaining your battery at a full charge. Your battery is ready to go when you need it.

Can this extender be permanently mounted to your vehicle

Thank you for the question. We include ring terminals with a quick disconnect to the BEX-1500 that are designed for a more permanent installation to allow for quick and easy access, but the charger itself is not designed to be mounted to the vehicle. It does not handle engine compartment temperature and due to ventilation requirements it should be mounted outside the vehicle, mounted to a wall or other secure surface.

Thank you for your question. There is no internal clock or timing mechanism in the BEX chargers. They are just either on or off.
