The engine crankshaft seal, also known as the main seal, is a critical component that prevents oil from leaking out of the engine around the crankshaft. Your crankshaft seal is positioned where the crankshaft exits the engine block, typically at the front or rear of the engine. It creates a tight barrier between the rotating crankshaft and the stationary engine parts, preventing oil from leaking at this point.
