Product Information
370x24mm, Formula Z coated replacement rotor from Zimmermann
Both the M5 and M6 are capable of very high top end speeds. Because of this, BMW mounts massive front rotors and calipers to bring these monsters down from speed. A majority of the braking power is done with the front rotors and these normally wear faster than the rear. It is important to periodically check width of these rotors to ensure you are driving in spec.
When these rotors wear out you will likely notice pulsating while braking, grinding noises, or you can visibly see a lip around the edge of the rotor. We suggest replacing rotors in pairs for best performance and safety.
Sold Individually
Commonly referred to as a Brake Disc or a Brake Rotor, these components play a vital role in your braking system. When applying the brake pedal, this produces hydraulic fluid pressure which then transfers the pressure from the pedal through your braking system and into your brake calipers. The caliper pistons then apply pressure against your brake pads squeezing them inward against your brake rotors ultimately causing friction and stopping the vehicle. Brake rotors are a regular maintenance item which requires either servicing by means of machine work, or most commonly replacement when they become too thin, pulsate, glaze, or grind from worn-out brake pads. It's recommended to replace the brake pads and rotors at the same time.
Disc Brake Rotor Failure Symptoms- Pulsating
- Grinding
- Squeaking
- Glazing
- Hot spots
- A noticeable lip on the rotors outer edge
About Zimmermann Formula Z
The Zimmermann Formula Z brake disc was crafted to seamlessly combine easy installation with superior braking performance under intense mechanical and thermal stress. This compound brake disc, designed by Zimmermann, addresses the heightened demands associated with engine tuning and optimized chassis structures.
Advantages
- Excellent deceleration action and no distortion of friction ring at high temperatures
- Substantial weight saving and therefore less unsprung mass
- Floating mounting enables radial expansion of the brake disc under relatively heavy loads, thus preventing shielding and increasing resistance to heat cracks
- "Hot spots" prevented by optimized design of ventilation channels
- 1:1 exchange of original disc possible
- Not subject to registration: general ABE certification supplied with the disc
- No conversion is required for brake tuning
