An Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor is a sensor in a vehicle’s exhaust system that measures the temperature of exhaust gases as they exit the engine. This information is essential for engine control systems, as it helps optimize fuel-air mixtures, prevent overheating, and ensure the catalytic converter and other emissions components operate within safe temperature ranges. EGT sensors are commonly found in diesel engines and high-performance vehicles, where exhaust temperature management is critical.

• Poor Fuel Economy: A faulty EGT sensor can give inaccurate temperature readings, leading the engine control module (ECM) to adjust the fuel-air mixture improperly. This can result in inefficient combustion, leading to higher fuel consumption and reduced fuel economy
