The OBP Alloy Dry Sump Tank is a vital component in a dry sump oil system, which is commonly used in motorsport and high-performance engines to maintain consistent oil pressure, especially under extreme conditions such as hard cornering, acceleration, and braking. Unlike traditional wet sump systems, a dry sump setup stores oil externally in a dedicated tank, eliminating the risk of oil starvation and improving overall engine reliability.

Our dry sump tanks are universally designed to suit a wide range of applications and are handmade in the UK using 2mm high-grade aluminium. Each tank includes an internal baffle system to reduce oil surge, a 50mm screw cap filler neck, and JIC male fittings for leak-free, high-flow connections. Every unit is pressure tested to ensure durability and dependable performance in even the harshest racing environments.


🔧 What Is a Dry Sump Tank Used For?

A dry sump tank stores and manages the engine’s oil outside the crankcase. It works as part of a dry sump lubrication system, allowing scavenger pumps to collect oil from the engine and deliver it back to the tank. This system prevents oil starvation during high-G manoeuvres, lowers engine height for a better centre of gravity, and allows for increased oil capacity, making it ideal for race, drift, rally, and high-performance road cars.
