Some cylinder head bolts are stretch bolts, which are one time use. Stretch bolts are designed to S-t-r-e-t-c-h during installation and are part of the engine design. Before doing any head work that requires removal of the head be sure you know if your car's application uses stretch bolts and be sure to have a new set ready for installation. Also be sure to follow the correct head bolt tightening procedure including the use of a torque wrench.
