VW Water Pump / Thermostat Assembly Kit:

The thermostat housing and water pump on the third and fourth generation EA888 2.0T engines are well known to fail prematurely, which leads to coolant leaking onto your driveway. When operating your vehicle with a leaking water pump, you risk overheating the engine, which may lead to warping the cylinder head and potentially cause severe damage. Luckily, the thermostat is electronically controlled by the ECM, which can alert you of a failing unit with a check engine fault code for cooling system performance. If you notice the low coolant warning light illuminate on the dash, notice a coolant odor, and observe the coolane level in the reservoir is low, we recommend inspect/replace the water pump and thermostat housing ASAP!

This Kit Includes:

• Thermostat Housing
• Water Pump
• Water Pump Belt
• Balanceshaft Bolt

Symptoms of Failing Thermostat / Water Pump:

• Low coolant level
• Smelling coolant
• Check engine light for cooling system performance

Torque Specs:

• Thermostat housing to engine block: 9Nm
• Water Pump to thermostat housing: 9Nm
• Balanceshaft gear bolt: 10Nm + 90°

WARNING:

• Do not reuse the bolt that secures the balanceshaft gear to the assembly
• The balanceshaft bolt is left-hand thread

Installation Note!

We recommend when installing the water pump union to lubricate the o-rings with High Quality Grease to prevent the gaskets from tearing or rolling. Failure to lubricate the seals properly can result in a coolant leak.
