As power levels increase, belt stability and accessory-drive control become increasingly important. Whipple developed this billet alternator relocation kit as a race-proven solution for high-horsepower Mustang applications that need improved supercharger belt performance and reduced alternator bracket flex under load.

The Whipple alternator relocation kit is designed for 2011 and up Ford 5.0L-5.2L Mustang engines and works with ATI balancers in either standard diameter or 20% overdrive configurations. By relocating the alternator, the system significantly shortens the supercharger belt path and helps reduce the flex issues many high-power applications experience with the factory-style arrangement.

The kit is engineered to retain the factory alternator pulley for the proper RPM range while continuing to use the stock spring-loaded tensioner for reliable operation across all types of RPM conditions. It also allows the factory A/C system and routing to remain in place, making it a practical upgrade for customers who want better belt performance without sacrificing core street functionality.

The package includes the Whipple 6-rib crank pulley, billet brackets, spacers, mounting hardware, billet tensioner plate, and a 6-rib 40" belt for alternator routing. For serious street and strip combinations making substantial power, this is a proven upgrade that helps improve confidence and consistency when belt control matters most.

Application Notes:

  • Designed for 2011 and up Ford 5.0L-5.2L Mustang engines
  • S550 applications require front sway bar removal for proper clearance
  • Fits stock oil filter FL-500; does not currently fit FL-820
  • Supercharger belt not included; SC belt length depends on blower generation, balancer size, and pulley combination
  • System has only been tested with Whipple Superchargers and may fit other applications
  • Gen 2, Gen 3, and Gen 4 2.9L supercharger systems require a new tensioner plate for proper belt clearance
  • Does not fit applications where the engine is lowered, including GT350-type setups, due to sway bar clearance
